The map set is in near mint condition with all intact/accounted pages and original staples. This ‘CONFIDENTIAL Status Of Japan Held Pacific Islands’ combat used map booklet comes from the estate of a WWII Pacific Fleet Veteran that that led members of his Naval Fleet across the Pacific against the Japanese. This is an extremely rare book and many were destroyed. There are only a select few of these booklet given to Naval officers. During the time of this maps printing the US only controlled 13% of the 209 major islands with 40% still being occupied by the Japanese. This map labels each island in the Pacific and was used by officers during the island hoping campaign. The chart maps included in this set are marked accurate as of July 15th, 1945. This rare map set is complied in a CONFIDENTIAL booklet that marks all Pacific islands as Island Name, Group, and Status. Please note this book has every island in the pacific theater. What this map set so interesting is that islands such as Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Guam, Wake Island, Marshal Islands, etc. were not all under our control as this map was being used.
