This incredible Korean War souvenir is a rare bring back from a Marine Corps soldier serving in the  1st Marine Regiment - 1st Marine Division who fought in the infamous battle of Bunker Hill. The Battle of Bunker Hill was a battle fought between 9 August and 30 September 1952 during the Korean War between United Nations Command (UN) and Chinese forces over several frontline outposts.  The Battle of Bunker Hill is one of the most infamous battles of the Korean War and is the same battle where Alford Lee McLaughlin of the 33rd Marine to receive the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty. McLaughlin earned the nation's highest decoration for valor during the Battle of Bunker Hill (1952) by his two-machine gun defense at one of the outposts in the Bunker Hill area of Korea on the night of September 4–5, 1952. He was presented the medal by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on October 27, 1953, at a ceremony in the White House. This bring back souvenir of an artillery shrapnel fragment still contains the original delicate rope tie and double-sided inscription that reads “Souvenir of Bunker Hill - Fragment from enemy shell that fell on Bunker Hill -  August 1952” with the  reverse side reading “Compliments of 1st Marine Regiment - 1st Marine Division - Korea”.
