Original WWII Japanese Medic Wounded in Action Field Hospital Tag - Unused Mint Condition
Size: 4.75 x 2.5 inches
This original World War II Japanese body wounded in action tag was specifically designed and carried by medics or other Japanese personnel for the tagging wounded Japanese soldiers from the battlefield. This body tag was a bring back from a Pacific Theater soldier and was most likely taken off a Japanese medic or combat field hospital.
This body tag has no creases and are in almost near mint condition. These tags would have a string attached to the hole punched at the top and would be tagged on the uniform of the wounded Japanese soldier marking the specific area of the wound easily to find and locate. This made for easy treatment from Japanese medics in their field hospitals.
Quote from a WWII U.S. Pacific Veteran:
“In one instance our position was attacked by two Jap medics, fully armed and determined to kill. I took several interesting souvenirs off their corpses, including photos of them in their white uniforms, a medic’s pouch with useful tins that I used for salt and foot powder, and some wounded-in-action tags with a line drawing of a Jap body on which to mark the location of wounds.”
