This incredibly rare and very historic piece of WWII history is an original U.S. Army Patton's Third Army uniform patch worn by a World War II U.S. Third Army soldier led by the infamous General Patton.

At the onset WWII, the Third Army was tasked with training and preparing American troops. However, it wasn't until 1944 that the Third Army truly came into its own, with General Patton at the helm. One of the Third Army's most notable campaigns was the Allied invasion of Normandy, codenamed Operation Overlord, which commenced on June 6th, 1944. Patton's forces were not directly involved in the initial D-Day landings but played a crucial role in the subsequent breakout from the Normandy beachheads.

Following the successful Allied landings in Normandy, Patton's Third Army was unleashed in Operation Cobra which paved the way for the rapid advance of Allied forces across France.

One of the most famous operations of the Third Army was the lightning-fast pursuit across France during the Battle of the Bulge. When enemy forces launched a surprise counteroffensive in December 1944, Patton's Third Army executed a daring maneuver, turning north to relieve the besieged town of Bastogne. Despite harsh winter conditions and fierce resistance, the Third Army successfully relieved the embattled Allied troops, effectively thwarting the offensive.

The Third Army's contributions to the Allied victory in World War II cannot be overstated. General George S. Patton's bold leadership and the skill and determination of his troops played a decisive role in shaping the course of history. Through their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom and democracy, the men of the Third Army helped secure a brighter future for generations to come.
