This original double sided WWII Japanese map is a bring back from a U.S. veteran who captured it while serving in the Philippine Islands during WWII. This map shows the entire Pacific Theater and appears to be information showing the locations of Japanese naval ships and battle cruisers as well as information on past bombings sites carried out by the Japanese military on Australia and other Allied held islands early on in the Pacific campaign.
This map also shows Japanese ‘rising sun’ flags over still held Japanese islands in the Pacific. While this map is very used condition it still maintains a pretty solid condition and is a very rare map as many Japanese maps from WWII were destroyed and do not exist anymore.
What makes this mat even more incredible is the backside features military information including updates of captured islands as well as Japanese propaganda to soldiers and generals on the frontline updating them on the Japanese war machine in the Pacific theater as of that point. The photos illustrate Japanese special special force amphibious units moving through water on a captured island as well as a captured American soldier with a white surrender flight being marched by Japanese soldiers.
This map is one of a kind and very unique making it a must have for any WWII collector.
