This incredible scare and museum-grade WWII Japanese U.S. aircraft carrier and battleship identification poster was used to familiarize Japanese pilots (aircraft carrier pilots) and the Japanese Navy with American carriers operating in the Pacific Theater.

This very rare mini poster series is double sided and shows the infamous USS ENTERPRISE (CV-6), USS WASP (CV-7), and USS HORNET (CV-8). This site features a sketch layout of each of the American bases aircraft carrier who saw extensive action in the Pacific Theater. The sketch drawings were done to familiarize Japanese aircraft carrier pilots and naval crew for accurate identification of American aircraft carriers. The sketches were done based on the most updated information obtained by the Japanese during this time with the USS Enterprise drawing being made and updated as of 1943, the USS Wasp updated as of 1939 and the USS Hornet being updated as of 1940.

The backside of the identification poster has an extremely detailed study on the Nelson class battleship. The extensive information details the survey of these British class battleships as well as all of the information regarding their speed, strengths, weaknesses, etc.

This front and back identification poster is extremely rare and scarce. Very few of these are known to actually exist, and especially ones in almost mint condition. In our Time over the years of private artifact creators we have never seen a WWII era Japanese identification poster series like this detailing American aircraft carriers and other Allied ships.
