______________________________

This incredibly rare and very historic piece of NASA space history is an original “Apollo 15” astronaut mission match that was worn as well as given to astronauts and Mission Control personnel who played a role in the Apollo 15 mission and Lunar Rover Program.

Apollo 15, launched on July 26, 1971, marked a pivotal moment in lunar exploration with its focus on scientific discovery and technological innovation.

Commanded by David R. Scott, with Alfred M. Worden and James B. Irwin, the mission utilized the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) to traverse the Hadley-Apennine region, significantly expanding exploration range and enabling the collection of diverse lunar samples, including the "Genesis Rock."

Despite technical challenges, the mission's deployment of advanced scientific instruments provided crucial data on the Moon's magnetic field, thermal properties, and geological history. Apollo 15's extended stay on the lunar surface and its groundbreaking achievements paved the way for subsequent missions, leaving a lasting legacy in lunar science and space exploration.
