This print features an original WWII D-Day U.S. Airborne camouflage parachute fabric recovered from the historic drop zones near Sainte-Mère-Église, Normandy. On June 6, 1944, paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions descended into Normandy, France under the cover of darkness, with their camouflage parachutes helping to conceal their landings. Sainte-Mère-Église soon became one of the most famous towns part of Operation Overlord. These parachutes carried the U.S. paratroopers who played a crucial role during D-Day and ensured the success of the Allied efforts on the beaches.
