This incredibly rare and historic piece of history is an original wood deck fragment from the WWII battleship USS Iowa BB-61, which served with distinction as one of the most infamous U.S. Navy ships of WWII.
The USS Iowa (BB-61), the lead ship of the Iowa-class battleships, played an important role during World War II. Commissioned in 1943, the Iowa served as the flagship for Admiral William F. Halsey in the Pacific Theater.
The USS Iowa (BB-61) supported key operations, including the action in the Philippine Sea, the Marshall Islands, and Okinawa campaigns.
The Iowa also transported President Franklin D. Roosevelt across the Atlantic to a wartime summit in Tehran and was present in Tokyo Bay during the official ceremony in 1945 marking the official end to WWII.
This wood deck fragment is a tangible connection to the ship's illustrious history, allowing collectors to own a piece of the legacy of one of the most iconic U.S. Navy ships of the 20th century.
This would make an incredible addition to any WWII or naval history collection.
