The USS Cobia (SS-245) played a crucial role in the Pacific during WWII. Commissioned in 1943, the Cobia embarked on several successful U.S. Navy patrols from 1943 to 1945.
She is credited with sinking a significant amount of ships, including one bound for Iwo Jima as well as rescuing numerous U.S. pilots in the Java Sea.
Over the course of WWII, the USS Cobia (SS-245) earned four battle stars.
