This incredibly rare and very historic piece of WWI history is an original 1918 American Expeditionary Force (A.E.F.) U.S. soldier's large uniform button that was worn by U.S. soldiers in the frontline trenches on the Western Front.
The A.E.F. was established on July 5, 1917, in France under the command of then-Major General John J. Pershing.
The A.E.F. helped the French on the Western Front during the Aisne Offensive (Château-Thierry & Belleau Wood) in the summer of 1918, and participated in major actions at Saint-Mihiel and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in the latter part of 1918.
