The Vietnam War was a long, costly and divisive conflict that pitted the communist government of North Vietnam against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. More than 3 million people (including over 58,000 Americans) were killed in the Vietnam War, and more than half of the dead were Vietnamese civilians.

This original Vietnam War casualty report is a grim reminder of the 58,000 Americans KIA and the 153,372 WIA while in Vietnam. These casualty reports were filled out for each KIA and WIA soldier and were meant to accurately detail the LOCATION OF INCIDENT, TYPE OF CASUALTY, as well as the soldier’s NAME, RANK, and SERVICE NUMBER. The report also notates if the event was the cause of “HOSTILE ACTION or NON-HOSTILE ACTION”. The backside of this casualty feeder report allows for a detailed account and remarks for debriefs and witnesses to the incident.

What makes this piece of Vietnam War history special is that for the 58,000 names on the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington DC each of those soldiers had one of these casualty feeder reports filled out for them. This is a very rare and unseen piece of Vietnam War history. These reports were not usually saved which makes this unused original page very rare. These exact casualty reports were filled out by some of the most famous and infamous divisions of the Vietnam War including the 1st Cavalry Division and 101st Airborne Division.
