This WWII rifle training card was used to train soldiers before shipping over to the European and Pacific Theaters. This used and shot rifle card is hand labeled with the writing of James Hickey who enlisted in the U.S.M.C. In 1943 Hickey trained on Paris Island and other training bases throughout the U.S. before shipping off with the 3rd Marine Division and later joining up with the 4th Marine Division in the Pacific Theater. On January 1944, Hickey and his division began their 13 month campaign against the Japanese. During this time Hickey participated in multiple major amphibious assaults including the battles of Kwajalein, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, and Iwo Jima where James Hickey was later listed as missing in action during combat operations.
