This original World War II awards and citations Page was private on board the USS Colorado while serving operations in the Pacific Theater against the Japanese. Dated February 10, 1945 the citation and award sheet lists the crew serving on board the USS Colorado with BRONZE STAR, PURPLE HEART, and COMMENTATION AWARDS. Because of their location in the Pacific Theater of operations during this time, it states that the award ceremony was not held for the entire crew on board the deck for safety and operational purposes.

Due to the date on this awards and citations page, it is believed that the awards given during the ceremony aboard the USS Colorado were given for participation in the pre-invasion shelling of the Lingayen Gulf in January of 1945. During this invasion, the USS Colorado was hit by accidental gunfire eight days later. The gunfire hit her superstructure and caused 69 casualties (18 killed, 51 wounded). The purple heart are believed to be the members of the ship wounded during that event.

Not many of these sheets were produced for the awards and citation ceremony making this an incredible and rare piece of World War II in USS Colorado history.
