This original and museum-grade World War I A.E.F. (American Expeditionary Force) artillery barrage observation plate was used to visually show field artillery accuracy as observed and surveyed. Noted by “MAP SQUARE 31” this specific “BATTERY F 5560” shows the average artillery fire (MEAN) and the individual shot recorded locations of beach specific battery. This specific barrage plate comes from the bring back collection of Sgt. Judson who served during WWI as a field artilleryman with the A.E.F. 13th Field Artillery. Sgt. Judson and the 13 F.A. as accredited with combat participation in the Aisne-Marne, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, Champagne 1918, Lorraine 1918.

These individually engraved barrage plates were used by AEF Field artillery man in order to see their barrage results and improve their accuracy with the given barrage data.
