This original and very rare WWI PRESS photograph shows a glimpse of what a WWI soldier saw on the front lines and deep in the trenches during the Great War. This is a very rare and original one of one press photo that was taken in the trenches and then developed for use in newspapers back home. The back of the photograph has the original description and location it was taken!

What makes this WWI era photograph so unique is the detailed and crisp image shown! These photographs were taken to show the general public what the condition was like on the frontline. These photographs depict the true horrid and real uncensored conditions many soldiers faced daily on the front lines.

In 1914, as the outbreak of World War I brought mass slaughter to Europe’s battlefields, photo journalism evolved rapidly in the muddy trenches, where 19th-century tactics met 20th-century weapons. Machine guns, airplanes, tanks, flamethrowers, poisonous gas and submarines were widely used for the first time against doomed troops that were sent by their generals into frontal attacks that left millions dead. This unimaginable carnage was witnessed by photographers who for the first time got close enough to the front to document combat, as well as scenes of soldiers at rest and at play.

This WWI photograph would make an amazing addition to any WWI collection!
