WWII 1944 "Grafenwoehr" U.S. American Infantry & Armored Division Invasion of Germany
Comes with a hand-signed C.O.A.
This incredibly rare and museum-grade WWII artifact is an original 1944 dated “Grafenwoehr” combat map printed as the American Infantry and Armored Division advanced across the Rhine and further into Germany.
The area of Grafenwoehr was used to train so of Hitler’s most elite Nazi soldiers. This German camp was used by German soldiers to practice blitzkrieg tactics. Just prior to WWII and during the early war years, Grafenwoehr became the prime training ground for Germany's most elite ground forces, including the Waffen-SS Panzer Divisions and the Afrika Korps units under Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. It was also used as a proving ground for Germany's most advanced battle tanks.
On April 5th, 1945 the camp and town were subjected to heavy bombing and straffing by U.S. and British warplanes. The American era began after the last German Commander of the training area surrendered to the American forces on 20 April 1945.
