This incredible piece of World War I history was excavated and preserved off a WWI battlefield. This WWI German soldier’s dog tag was one of the most personal items carried by a soldier into battle. This fragmented German soldier identification tag was most likely from a killed in action (KIA) German soldier from the Great War. While you can read some of the fragmented information on the dog tag it is an eerie reminder of the bullets, artillery, shrapnel, and other weapons that took millions of lives on the battlefields across the Western Front.
