Both sides of this WWII medallion feature an incredible and professionally persevered “piece of history“ from the June 6th, 1944 D-Day landings. This WWII D-Day medallion measures a large and sturdy coin size of 2 inches tall x 2 inches wide.

MEDALLION SELECTIONS:

#1. Omaha Beach Medallion - Contains WWII 1944 D-Day sand from Omaha Beach & a D-Day Omaha Beach recovered U.S. Infantry Division soldier’s inflatable lifebelt.

#2. Utah Beach Medallion - Contains WWII 1944 D-Day sand from Utah Beach & a D-Day Sainte-Mère-Eglise drop zone recovered 101st U.S. Airborne Division parachute.

#3. Pointe Du Hoc Medallion - Contains WWII 1944 D-Day sand from the Pointe Du Hoc cliff & a U.S. 2nd/5th Ranger Battalion amphibious gear bag.

On the front of each D-Day medallion contains the famous Theodore Roosevelt Jr. D-Day quote "We'll start the war from right here". Theodore Roosevelt Jr. became the only U.S. general to storm the beaches in the first wave of the Normandy invasion, leading the 4th Infantry Division, 8th Infantry Regiment, into France. His landing craft famously drifted off course and reached shore approximately one mile from its target destination. Reportedly, he let the troops know he didn’t care where they landed. “We’ll start the war from right here!” he is said to have shouted to the young soldiers scrambling onto the D-Day beachhead.

On the back of each D-Day medallion contains a longer quote from a surviving D-Day veteran...as well as the famous Dwight D. Eisenhower quote, "We will accept nothing less than full victory". This was a statement by General Dwight D. Eisenhower put in his D-Day message to the Allied forces on June 6, 1944. The message was intended to inspire and motivate the troops as they prepared to embark on the difficult mission.
