Most pottery was created by Indian women, where designs and techniques were passed down from mother to daughter. These ancient vessels would have been used to store water, cook, as well as hold food and grain. The Prehistoric Pueblo Indians hand-coiled the clay and then painted symbolic tribal designs with natural dye and a yucca-leaf brush.
